Local Entrepreneurs Launch Coworking Space as Part of The Benison Event Center in Downtown Hamilton

HAMILTON, OHIO (July 10, 2020) - Employees who have found themselves suddenly working from home are discovering what many remote workers have known for years: it’s hard to stay focused in the home office. Freelancers and entrepreneurs, small businesses and start-ups in Hamilton, OH can now benefit from a new place to work, collaborate, and generate contacts. The Benison, an event and coworking space in downtown Hamilton, has officially launched a spacious coworking location that can also host business meetings, events and conferences.

An independent, woman-owned local enterprise, The Benison offers an alternative for small businesses and individuals who would otherwise work from home, coffee shops or in isolated offices, and provides a collaborative working environment with access to mentoring, networking, business advice and strategic partnership resources. It’s goal is to create an environment that fosters excellence, adaptability, community and hospitality in business and in life. The Benison also has a mission-focused goal of giving back and regularly contributes to the needs of orphans and foster-children through its annual giving program.

Though the building has been open since May 2019, The Benison coworking and business space officially launches in July 2020 with free coworking on Mondays and Open House tours from 9am-3pm. Grand Opening events are scheduled for August 3, 2020.

Byron Skaggs, Coworking Director, joined The Benison team in early 2020 and is tasked with creating the coworking environment. As Byron explains:

The aim of The Benison coworking is to support the re-invigorated business community of Hamilton. By providing a collaborative, inspiring place to work, and access to support and a wider community, we are helping to create more jobs in Hamilton and ensuring we keep talented entrepreneurs and small business in the area. We’re in a great location, The Benison is a beautiful historic bank building, just downtown off High Street.”

Whether you’re mind-mapping, meeting with 2 or 3 others, collaborating or crunching numbers, or speaking to a crowd of 200 people, the desks, tables, sofas, super-fast Wi-Fi, flexible meeting rooms and informal areas provide the perfect place for every business need. Members enjoy amenities including printing, mail service with package notification, free coffee, blazing-fast and secure Wi-Fi, lockers, desks, off-street parking, audio/video production room for podcasting and webcasting, monthly workshops and networking events, and safe, locked 24-hour access all week. Virtual memberships are available for someone only needing a business mail address and package arrival notification.

The Benison is the brainchild of entrepreneur, Christy Nelson. When asked about the transition from party events to include coworking and business events, she said:

“The most romantic day of your life should be historic. When we found out this place was available, we knew we had to jump in and bring it back to life. Opening The Benison to coworking allows us to tap into the building’s original purpose and empower the Butler County business community even more than one special day, but for the life of business.”

With the support of Event Director, Yvonne VanBibber, The Benison has quickly become a highly desired Butler County wedding venue. Adding business services builds on the foundation created by party events. As Yvonne explains:

The Benison is focused on excellence, adaptability, hospitality, and community. Opening up the coworking space gives us a greater opportunity to serve Hamilton and surrounding Butler County with authenticity and strategic partnerships.”

Local businesses provide specialty coffee, wine and craft beer at the Member Café, and lunch items available from featured partner restaurants. Other collaborations include a customized membership with the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, as well as special-offer services for business coaching, event coordinating, IT services, marketing, health/wellness consulting and faith-based chaplaincy.

Dan Bates, President and CEO of The Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, said:

The Greater Hamilton chamber is excited to partner with The Benison to offer customized chamber memberships with incentives to Benison members including access to the chamber network and many cost saving benefits.

The meeting and event spaces are available to the community-at large as well as members. Reservations available through both the website and mobile platform. The Benison offers a unique, historic atmosphere for weddings, receptions and parties and is also suitable for workshops, trainings, off-site company meetings and conferences.

Membership packages begin at $59/month ranging from virtual to drop-in, reserved desk and private office options. “Plus” memberships add the benefits of joining the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and additional meeting room time. Day Pass and 5-Day Pass packages are also available.
